Education & Fellowship Opportunities
Eligibility
The Department of Bioethics is pleased to offer a limited number of pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships. Pre-doc applicants should have an undergraduate degree and should be planning postgraduate work. Post-doc applicants should have a PhD, MD, JD, or other advanced degree in a relevant field. Fellows are selected on the basis of their previous academic achievements, commitment to scholarship, and the contribution they are likely to make in the field of bioethics. No bioethics experience is required or expected.
The department prides itself on being a diverse and interdisciplinary community. Fellows have come from a variety of academic and social backgrounds and have pursued research on a wide range of topics. An intellectual environment composed of such different points of view has greatly added to the rigor and success of our program.How to Apply

- All academic transcripts (undergraduate and graduate)
- Copies of written or published work not to exceed 30 pages
- Three letters of recommendation
- 1,000 word statement of interest. The statement of interest is the chance for applicants to describe how their background, personal experiences, and/or academic interests have led them to pursue a fellowship in bioethics at the NIH. We are also interested to learn how applicants see this fellowship supporting their future goals and career prospects.
Application Deadline
For two-year fellowships beginning in September of each year, please submit post-doctoral applications by December 30 and pre-doctoral applications by January 15th.
