Robert Steel, PhD
Robert Steel is a first year post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics. Prior to arriving at the NIH, he completed his PhD in philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh. He wrote his dissertation in epistemology, on the proper treatment of higher order evidence. At the NIH, he is now working on a cluster of issues surrounding population ethics. His current research interests include reproductive ethics, measures of welfare, the moral status of future people, and personal identity and survival.
